Electric Underfloor Heating Under Tile

Each electric heating mat is 2mm thick.

The heating mats are 2mm thick but you should allow for 5mm tile adhesive to stick your tile. If you are using the underwood heating mat, the mat is 2mm and you must use the 6mm insulation board with this.

Underwood – 140w per metre squared
Under carpet or vinyl – 150w per metre squared
Under tile – 200w per meter squared

Most electricians will have installed electric underfloor heating before.
You can also install the mat yourself and then ask an electrician to wire the system up.

Each of our electric underfloor thermostats can switch 16amps, so you can connect two mats to one thermostat as long as it does not exceed the 16amp limit.

No, we always recommend heating 85%-90% of your total available floor area.
We also want to avoid fixed furniture and units.

Electric Underfloor Heating Under Wood

You can use almost all types of laminates and engineered woods with our electric underwood systems, but they must be floating (not glued down). We also recommend checking with your wood or laminate manufacture first.

27 degrees is the max floor temperature you can set the wood flooring too. This can be limited on the thermostat settings.

The silver cover (aluminium) on top of the heating cables ensures the system is earthed.
When the system is installed and you cut in between the cables of the silver cover, you will need to re-earth the heating mat with the silver aluminium tape that’s provided.

No please don’t cut the cable, the heating mat is a continuous circuit and after it has been cut it must be repaired correctly to ensure the resistance is correct.
The heating mats, if damaged, can be repaired quickly by a qualified electrician.

Unlike the under tile systems that work with and without an insulation board, the underwood heating mat does not. You must use the xps 6mm (orange) or XPS insulation boards prior to putting the under wood mats down.

Water Underfloor Heating

Each electric heating mat is 2mm thick.

Underfloor heating essentially works by turning the entire floor area into an invisible, but more efficient, radiator. Its a radiant heat source that is superior to radiators. Underfloor heating pipes are installed beneath the floor, which heat up to warm the room from the ground up. Aluminium or plastic pipe is used for warm water underfloor heating.

Water underfloor heating is one of the cheapest and most effective ways of heating new and older houses. Its 25% cheaper compared to radiators due to the water temperature being just 50 degrees, compared with 70 degrees in radiators.

Of course! We don’t want you to spend a fortune and wait a long time replacing an existing floor – that’s why we sell overlay panels. The panels come in 16mm, 18mm and 20mm thickness and are some of the best on the market. The overlay panel will be installed on top of the existing floor finish and this panel will house the pipe. Your floor finish will then be installed on top.

Generally speaking all boilers can work with underfloor heating, but we would recommend speaking to your heating engineer first. Air source heat pumps also work great with underfloor heating.

Yes! With water underfloor heating you can use wireless thermostats that don’t need any hard wiring into the walls. This is great for renovation projects where the plastering may already be finished.
